Say hello to the newest member of the 3D printing world.

The ARC Group Worldwide intends to draw on its experience in 3D printing, rapid prototyping, short run production, and tooling in its new division, 3D Material Technologies.

The new division will focus largely on 3D printing metal designs as ARC has been using fused deposition modeling (FDM), selective laser sintering (SLS), and stereolithography (SLA) procedures for several years. The burgeoning demand from customers has prompted the move.

"We are excited to launch 3D Material Technologies," ARC CEO Jason Young said. "3D printing is complementary to our core manufacturing capabilities. As such, we believe 3DMT is well positioned to significantly grow in this market segment while responding to our customer's needs in reducing development cycle time. We are excited about building this effort and providing new products and services to our customers."

Founded in 1987, ARC is a diversified, global manufacturing company specializing in metal injection molding. It utilizes cutting robotics and automation in manufacturing precision components, flanges, fittings, and wireless technology.

Its subsidiaries include FlowMet, Advanced Forming TechnologyGeneral Flange and Forge, Arc Wireless, and now, 3D Material Technologies.
