In the fourth quarter of 2013, 3D Printer World ran four design contests in celebration of its inaugural 3D Printer World Expo held in Burbank, Calif., Jan. 31 - Feb. 1, 2014. The competition was for cash prizes in the categories of character design sponsored by Sculpteo, abstract art sponsored by GROWit, engineering design hosted by GrabCAD and sponsored by GoEngineer, and jewelry design printed by Kraftwurx.

Some of the winners made it to Burbank for the Expo and received their checks in person.
