Anyone who has gone through the hassle of removing messy support structures will appreciate Mold3D's recent tutorial. The video shows a very inventive approach to creating supports by using ZBrush's Zspheres modeling functionality. As an alternative to software-based structure generation, this do-it-yourself method gives artists more control in defining structures for their printable sculptures.
Mold3D is run by VFX industry artists Robert Vignone and Edward Quintero. Combined, both have over 20 years experience in visual effects. Their ingenious approach to using Zspheres to create support structures is one of many tutorials we can expect from them in the months ahead.
The model in this tutorial was designed by Gio Nakpil.
