Owen Marsh

Owen Marsh is a writer and 3D-printing enthusiast based in Portland, Oregon. He writes for 3D Printer World, a blog covering desktop 3D printers, materials, modeling techniques and practical workshop projects.

Owen studied Industrial Design at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, where he focused on product prototyping and digital fabrication. During his final year, he completed a research project on affordable 3D-printed assistive tools for people with limited hand mobility. He later earned a certificate in Additive Manufacturing from Oregon State University, studying print optimization, CAD modeling, resin safety and small-scale manufacturing.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Owen worked for four years as a prototyping technician at a small product-design studio. His experience includes FDM, SLA and SLS printing, though he particularly enjoys experimenting with recycled PETG and flexible TPU. His blog articles are known for combining technical testing with approachable explanations for beginners.

Outside of writing, Owen enjoys restoring vintage cameras, building mechanical keyboards, hiking in the Cascade Mountains and designing custom organizers for his workshop. He also plays bass guitar in a weekend jazz trio and keeps a notebook filled with ideas for practical household prints. His favorite projects are useful, slightly over-engineered and made to solve problems he encounters in everyday life.
